I spent 4 hours on this. My asrock z390 taichi ultimate has a retention clip holding 1 side of both connectors in. The cinnectors are back to back. So i can only put a hand on 1 corner. Theres a bump shape on oppisite side keeping it in too. So 3/4 sides are untouchable. I need this cable removed so i can test a new board fir post. What can i do to remove thiw cord? As you can see retention is part of mb. Nothing works. I just wanted to test a diff board usimg this psu...

Kind of looks like you have it plugged in backwards (or is that not the clip I'm seeing in the image?). Typically the clip side is on the away from the heatsink. Which may be why it's hard to remove (it's jammed in it there). If it is in backwards, it's not clipped to anything, it just needs to be pulled out, it's just going to be tough.

On motherboards what that clip is hard to get to, I have a long set of pliers that sometimes I use for this type of things. You just have to be careful not to cut / pinch the wires. As you don't want to damage them.

Also it may help to admit defeat and remove the board from the case to give yourself more room to work. This may mean removing the PSU as well. Yes it may be sort of trapped to the case, as the wire passes through, but typically you have enough wire that you can at least get it up out of the case enough to work on it.

Can reach the thing with my hands but problem is-

Retention bracket is on end away from cpu. Weirs notch that makes u unable to grab cpu is twords cpu. And the other side is back to backiddle) so only 1 side is accessable.. but last i checked u need 2 accessable. Can even fit a screwdriver between the bracket thats part of mb and the 4 x 4... but i donno what to di with it.

Also what do use the pliars on?

I think you are trying to say your CPU is in the way? Remove the CPU cooler. Also likely something that needs to happen.

Theres a piece of plastic on the edge. Ir blocks gripping the connetor. Its part of the motherboard. Meaing. I cannot grip both sides and pull like a normsl person.

Again. Sorry forgot to reply. I can reach the thing but the edge of the cable on the oppisite to the blocked one is curvved so evem if the cpu cooler wasnt there getting a good grip is not possible.

Its likda like

You don't need to get a grip on it you just need to release the clip and pull the whole thing. If you can get a screwdriver in there to depress the clip and use your other hand to yank the cable. As @OhioYJ said, taking the cooler off will just allow more clearance to get in there. Also there should not be anything curved about those connectors. Are you sure that "bump" isn't the retention clip that holds it in? Regardless if you can get at the clip with a screwdriver you should be able to yank on the cable (carefully) and get it out.

Screwdriver isnt an option.... mine literally has no clip as ive said a couple times.  What youre seeing is the physical plastic on the board designes to keep it in not get it out forcing it tighter. Theres npthing to push in and pull up. Theres no clips. As i said before plastic on motherboard blocks grabbing connectors.

The otherside is curved. Aka ungrippable.

The left and right sides ones touching omes exposed so also not an option. Even if i put my screw driver between the mb plastic and the cord its just hitting my board with metal theres no clip to push the mothervoard thing doesnt bend

Then I don't know what to tell you, clearly something isn't as it should be. there's no reason that there wouldn't be a clip holding it in as that's industry standard. Also if the motherboard itself is the thing holding it in then that's even weirder as I've also never heard of that being a thing. At this point all I can say is that we need better pictures. Take the cooler off and give us a better look at it. There should not be anything "ungrippable" and there should definitely be clips on the male end of the connector holding it in. So give us better pictures and we'll go from there.
