Yeah apples such a corporate company now they’ll probably just do a free trial to Apple TV or smh I would be amazed if Apple released a product for their anniversary

A new product, I dunno, but I could see them do some sort of special editions of existing stuff.

Also, when was the last time they weren't corporate?

I can see em pulling a stunt like that aka taking out ports and physicall hardware for a nice "re-skin"

I edit my posts for so if you saw a typo.... no you didn't, you are just crazy

With Apple, probably a new device that's incompatible with any previous Apple product, requiring purchase of new peripherals including earphones, mice, keyboards, and monitors. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed the cable connections to a new propriety one. And I really won't be surprised if their printer required the use of their own paper.

Apple has typically resisted leaning too much on its history for actual products — the 20th Anniversary Mac was an exception (and, I'd add, a pre-Jobs-return product). The closest you get right now are the nods to early Apple in the iMac's colours, an iPhone/iPad wallpaper, and the "hello" when you set up a device for the first time.

My hunch is that Apple will acknowledge the 50th anniversary, but that it's not going to do significantly more than post web content and videos. Maybe special colour options for iPhones/iPads or accessories, like cases and Apple Watch bands.

And I don't think I'd want it any other way. I don't want a company that's betting on nostalgia; very few companies can make success out of it (Nintendo comes to mind). I'd rather Apple focus on the future... so if anything, I'd want 2026 to be marked by major product redesigns.

Tbh not sure Apple wants to brag about being a 50-year old something. Doesn't jibe with the youthful, nimble-footed image they're always trying to project.

Long age is something that only some dinosaur companies like Ford or GE would brag about. Apple might try to either mark it in some understated way or play down its significance.

If they go too loud with the anniversary thing, they risk hearing comparisons in the media: now that you're 50, Apple, are you as innovative as when you were 30 years old? 🧐

Exactly. Tradition is something for car manufacturers and bourbon distilleries. I'm half-surprised Microsoft made a fuss over its 50th, and even then it quickly moved on.

Bring back the iPod Classic with a flash drive please TimApple.

Or, a retro Macintosh Classic case, for SBCs like Raspberry Pi.

Or for something new for the future, Apple Silicone single board computers, so that the next generation of makers can get their hands on chips and PCB.

Genuinely excellent ideas for products, but anything that "replaces" existing products that make a bigger profit will be chopped down at the concept stage!

I could see them releasing a retrospective documentary miniseries on Apple TV+ with a "we've always been forward-thinking" message to it.

Woz deserves a whole episode just on his own.

The creation of the Mac is a story unto itself (documented on Andy Hertzfeld's site), but prominent figures in that story have already passed. (Notably there's Jef Raskin - who started the research project that evolved into the original Macintosh, Steve Jobs - who took over the project once he got kicked off the Lisa project, and recently Bill Atkinson - who wrote the graphics routines that made the Lisa and Mac what they were and the early Paint applications everyone copies to this day.) If they were to make an episode about this significant part of their history, they'd better get to it soon.

They probably won't do episodes about Copland, Michael Spindler, and Gil Amelio though. (Hot take, but Gil's not the villain everyone thought he was whie he was CEO. His biggest fault was not cutting enough product lines fast enough; Steve Jobs finished that job after the NeXT acquisition.)

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

Notabitall,

You may be lucky, there's an application called DriodKit, that supposedly will let you update Samsung and Xiomi only phones. And it's supposed to have a number of other features.

The Note 9 can only run Android 10, 9, or 8 as far as I know.
