Hey.

Not sure where to put this, but found some other hackintosh threads here, soo.. here goes!

After the announcement of OS X Yosemite and iOS8, I am converting from Windows and Android. I have signed up for the public beta of Yosemite, and I will aquire an iPhone6 once they are available.

Now.. I really want to start trying out OS X before I get a Mac Mini and an iMacBook. I do not have any experience with OS X from the past.

Soo - Do you recommend virtualizing OS X Mavericks and then Yosemite-beta afterwards, or just install it with dual-boot alongside Windows?

My current computer's spec:

MSI M-Power Z77 MB

i7 2600

GeForce 780 (stock cooler)

Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz RAM. (Non-lp)

Couple of HDD's and a SSD for Windows.

XFX XXX 850W PSU.

I have read somewhere that the MSI M-Power works with Mavericks, but I am not sure about the RAM etc. What do you recommend?

I wont buy the Mac Mini until iOS 8 and Yosemite is released - hoping there will be an updated version!

Sorry if this was unclear. What I ask for is wheter I should virtualize Mavericks or install it alongside Windows - AND HOW.

Thanks.

Here is the link:

Gigabyte boards will install the easiest. For other motherboard, you will have to do your research, etc. to get it to work.

My recommendation is that if you are going to buy a Mac in the future, which you said you were, don't waste your time installing OSX on a Windows machine.

Enjoy!!!  :)

Thanks for the answers. I guess I will go ahead and install Mavericks alongside Windows.

I found this guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wpEf07mPyvCZYvlKo0YFh7cvi87eYat6dpkqY2arJas/edit for my MB.

Do you think this works? If my MB supports Mavericks, how likely is it that it will run Yosemite?

I own a iPhone, just curios cuz i was planning on going to Android, if iPhone does show me something that is worth it to stay on iOS.

Watch the announcement of iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. It is awesome. I am totally going away from Android and Windows. Tim Cook really did something great here.

I did watch, I did saw some improvement. However, still want to see the hardware, if hardware doesnt improve, I may move towards Android because of the Hardware(HTC M8 on the case). Software wise, I love iOS, had since the iPhone 3GS (dont remember which iOS was, but i think was the 3.) I got a actual apple computer Macbook Pro. I got it before I got into computers to the point to build and try to solve problems and OC and other things. Love the Macbook for traveling, and using for school work. However for rendering and gaming Windows is amazing. So since are planing on doing a Hackintosh I would have one Hard drive dedicated for the windows, and another for Yosemite. So you just choose from where you going to boot the pc when you turn on(i think thats how it works, never did a dual boot before, so if im wrong dont get mad at me).

Now back to video, Tim Cook did some improvements on the Yosemite, that is something I will be upgrading for sure looks way better and looks lighter than the Mavericks, also is for free, something very impressive to see for the second upgrade in a row. On the iOS 8 some improvements with basic stuff, making life easier to everybody, which is very very nice, also helping developers to improve their apps in such a way that makes life for everybody easy =D. On this point my only concern is the Hardware. If he shows something that will make my jaw drop, than I will be on the life for the iPhone 6 for sure.

Also since you making the decision to enjoy the Apple side, Welcome to a new world, but never forget the old one, It can come handy sometimes =D

Hardware in mobile phones are not really something I care for anymore - atleast not for the 400$ + phones. The specs for these phones are pretty similar. I dont think you will notice any great difference between the iPhone 6 and the M8. The build quality of the iPhone 5 is very solid, and I expect the same quality for the iPhone 6.

What I care for is the software. I have always been a fan of Android and Windows - pretty much due to it's openess. Being able to customize pretty much anything, and have apps that can influence eachothers is something I find necessary. The fact that OS X and iOS have been so closed and so different from all the standards, I have stayed away. I love the design of the products, and the quality is really good. However - I have not been able to try out these devices, becuase the software haven't been good enough.

With the new changes to iOS and OS X, I think it is worth a try. Recently, Microsoft have done something terribly wrong. Focusing on touch and tablets is not the right thing for a desktop operating system. I rely on a operating system that is elegant and let's be be productive over all platforms. Windows have failed to deliver this experience, so I have been scouting for options. With the new changes to OS X, I definately think it is worth a try.

The fact that iOS 8 allows apps to influence other apps - going away from the sandbox structure in the SDK. Not having to change app to answer a message- go through 3 different apps in order to edit an image in Safari. These are changes that makes we want to change over to Apple. SwiftKey is something I can't live without - moving to a phone where I am stuck with a horrible keyboard (Trust me - I have experience with it. My school hands out ipads to all the students. I have been writing long essays on that keyboar - it truly sucks). The larger screen size and the now , more open OS is making me convert.

The way OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 works together is truly amazing. Something I have waited for in Windows - but never experienced. For me to be as productive as possible - transfering files and working on documents have to be smooth - OVER ALL PLATFORMS! Yosemite and iOS 8 will give me this experience. Just getting a Mac will therefor not be enouch. I will change out every tech I got for the equal Apple-tech. I am moving over to Apple - for reals!

Of course,I will have to keep Windows for games and other applications that are not on the mac- but it will only be used for that. AS it seems, my MB is compatible with OS X, so it will probably work just fine.

I hope that cleared it up for you. Neryk. Sorry for the bad skill of writing - it is late and I am tired :)))

I understand your point, and you brought up things that I kinda forgot to take into consideration when(if) I do change from iOS and Android, is the fact that my laptop communicates the entire time with my laptop(its awesome) it helps me to be more organize with University and my entire personal life. idk how long I would survive without that communication.

The larger screens was a fact that i was taking for consideration to change on my case, but I will be still on the wait for the iPhone 6 to be launch, I do own a 5 and my girlfriend owns a 5s, love the few extra features that the 5s has over the 5, so I can't really complain, is more the matter of screen size, and the hardware( I know is not much different when its at that price range, but was one thing to considere.) (dont worry about the English, looks way better than mine.)

As far as my experience goes with hackintoshes, id suggest waiting for 10.10 to be released and tested with different hardware set-ups. Ive had so many hackintoshes die after OSX updates...

Oh, alright. So it is not very likely that a Hackintosh that works on Mavericks will work on Yosemite, then? I guess I will wait.

Any got any experience with OS X on Samsung laptops? Could be worth a try to have it installed on my laptop INSTEAD of WIndows.

Edit: I got the Samsung 730u3e

I've gotten lazy on keeping up with the changes made to OSX, but 10.10 seems like a bit of an overhaul... I recommend checking out http://www.tonymacx86.com/ for tips and tricks, they used to keep a list of compatible laptops/notebooks as well! Also check the guide that LTT put together for more tips and tricks, and most of all: GOOD LUCK! Hackintoshes can be quite demanding on your patience! :)
