Curious to see what people think of float plane. I want to throw my money at the channel (I’m big on support the creators that you enjoy and learn from) but don’t really know what people think about floatplane.

Do we like it? Become a YT Member a better choice?

Any thoughts or opinions welcome.

I've been on floatplane since LTX, and I've got a say, the $5/mn ($60/yr) tier is great, supports creator, gets all the good access, very high quality 1080p, WAN show/random Livestream looks real good and doesn't auto-drop the quality to 480p after a certain amount of time, you get to see pre-show (often quite funny), get LIME Day early access (also syw early access, so excited).

That said: I'm currently on the 4K tier ($100/yr) because it looks better on 4k TV for regular videos vs the upscaled 1080p.

Thoroughly happy with my subscription, highly recommend if you are considering.

YouTube subscription still goes through both YouTube and payment processors. So if you want more money to LMG, Floatplane is better. Also if you watch WAN, preshow is with Floatplane VOD. There are platform agnostic downloads and scripts to download whole catalog. YouTube is better only if you like to have all in one place.

With the cost of living crisis going on, certainly where I am in the UK I have cancelled a lot of monthly subscriptions. Floatplane, however, is one that I am keeping and will be keeping for the foreseeable future. Why? Well I get ad free content on one of the largest Tech channels around, the video bitrate is superior to YouTube, and so is the audio, I get to see content that is not on YouTube period, I get to watch content before it is available anywhere else and I am supporting LTT directly. I haven't even listed everything so what's not to love? Can't forget the fact that Floatplane has been up at times when even YouTube has been down. I love Floatplane.
