A while back I recall it was mentioned that the team was working on LTT Cables. Today I was looking for a specific cable in my allmightly cable drawer (we all have that drawer) and it was a frustrating mess.

Here is a product idea that would fit well in the line of the current cable management and maybe future LTT cables offering: some kind of storage/organizer system to neatly organize cables so that we can find the one we need when we need it.

In the meantime, I may try to tidy that up myself 😅

Just a random idea I wanted share.
Cheers.

Cable ties already exist. Besides that, smaller bins and sort per type and/or length. For example, I just reorganized my cables. Got bin for big/long cables, mixed since there are just couple and since they are big, its quick to sort out. Then smaller ones for USB-A/B, mini-USB, micro-USB, USB-C, audio.

There this, why invent wheel again with this one. The basic components already exist and Linus rants about those basic components everytime he deals with someone's cable mess.

The only improvement I could see is some 3D printable holder which is certain length to facilitate different lengths of cables when they are gathered as spools. But I don't think there's any reason to pay premium for such when you could print it yourself.

I use sandwich bags and ziploc bags with masking tape+black marker labels.

You don't need fancy solutions for a simple problem.
