Optional Driver updates (should I update these)

Go to solution Solved by Egon3,

Honestly, I would leave them given how old they are. I once had an instance where I updated a Corsair driver with an old one that came through Windows update and it broke things. You probably already have newer drivers (either manufacturer or generic drivers) installed already that work fine, if all your hardware is already working fine.

One thing to keep in mind is with 3rd party software updates in Microsoft Update, they are not validated for every OS. These 3rd party updates are shared among multiple OS versions so seeing as 2015/2018, those came out during the Windows 7/early Windows 10 days and may not even work right with newer Windows 10 revisions/Windows 11.

The driver updates I am looking at are:

• C-Media Inc. - Media - 7/16/2018 12:00:00 AM - 10.0.12.0

• PXI - other hardware - HID-compliand device

• ELECOM - Mouse - 7/2/2015 12:00:00 AM - 2.0.0.0

I have had these sitting in the optional updates forever. Should I update these or just leave them?

I know what type of driver the C-Media and ELECOM are but and confused why I am getting them as they are for AMD Architecture and I have an Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU.

As for the "PXI - other hardware - HID-compliand device." I understand that it is for human interface devices the concept of the PXI, but I have no idea what exactly what compent(s) of my PC this driver update is targeting.
