How the fuck...

It has done this yesterday as well, but only 15 there, last month as well, but with over 100.
It uses a total of 270gb a month of mobile and lan data combined, why? Can't be all just updates and it's getting expensive having to expand my monthly data every. damn. month. because Microsoft can't for shits n giggles get there operating system under control [I wanna remind you that my general consumption of data in Windows went from 300 max to over a terrabyte a month just from existing with system alone making up almost a third].
Based on what I can remember (and various people's recollections), "System" data usage is not always related to just Windows Updates - certain things (like VPN connections, for example) end up being lumped in with the "System" category because they don't really break this down further.
Good news is that you can enable "Metered connection" on a network-by-network basis to instruct Windows to reduce data usage on said network. This won't prevent you going over a data cap, as Windows and programs on your PC have ZERO knowledge about your cellular plan, but it will indicate to Windows and programs that can "see" this setting that they should use less data.
