Hey guys,

So I've made this build (partly copied from a friend) and would like some feedback or advice on it.

I want to be able to game, but I also want to be able to do some editing, hence the 16GB RAM.

In the future (~1-2 years) I will probably upgrade to SLI, the 750W should be enough (expecting ~600W while gaming with SLI). But as I said, this is in the future, so no high priorities there.

Oh and by the way, in the near future i will be overclocking. Before i do that i will also add the Corsair Hydro Series H100i to my build.

Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D

RAM: G.Skill RipjawsX 16GB DDR3-1600 CL10 kit

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 WindForce V2 3GB

CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K (maybe i5 4690k, depends on availability when i buy it this month)

Optical Drive: LG GH24NS95

Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 (changed from MSI Z87-G45 Gaming)

SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 250GB

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1TB

PSU: Seasonic X-Series 750W V2

This adds up to a total of ~€1400

Thanks in advance!

Gerdinand

EDIT: With this build I'm close to my max budget.

Looks Good @Gerdinand! Pretty well balanced. If you can find a comparable Z97 based board that fits your budget, I'd go with that,

How soon before you upgrade to the h100i? I wouldn't recommend running the stock HSF any longer than necessary, especially if you plan on gaming for hours on end and your environment is warm.

Thanks @d3sl91! A Z97 board is indeed a good option. I will replace the Z87-G45 with a Z97 Gaming 5.

The only advantage the Z87-G45 has over the Z97 is that it has the Lucid virtuMVP software with it, but as that isn't really stable right now it isn't that big of an advantage.

The advantages of the Z97 include support for 5th gen Intel chips, (a little) better audio and the overall power usage and benchmarks seem better to me.

I will be upgrading to the h100i in one, max 2 months. During that time I should be able to keep the heat under control.
