A few years ago i built my own pc. After some years of use i stopped using it. Now i want to get into it again but the hardware is a bit outdated.

I want to upgrade really bad, but i don't really know where to start since my knowledge of current pc parts is not up to date.

My current build is:

CPU: Intel core i5-9600K

GPU: RX460 4GB

MB: MSI Z390 A-PRO

RAM: Corsair vengeance 16GB 2666mhz

Power Supply: Cooler Master G450M

I know most of it is old, but what are reccomendations and parts to upgrade first.

I'm not looking for a super budget PC but not super high end. So bang for the buck.

With graphics cards i'm looking towards a RTX 5070 or RX7900 GRE.

I have a 1440p 144hz monitor, so performance should be up with that with medium/high graphic quality.

I'm not a fanboy of one of the bases, its all about performance for me.

Thanks for the help!

what ddr is the ram? for a gpu the 7900gre has more vram but the 5070 is slightly faster but has been a terrible deal.

In the Netherlands they are widely available for around 600 euros

Good. Get the 5070 which has multi frame generation to increase framerate while circumventing the expected CPU bottleneck

It also has access to DLSS4 while the 7900GRE does not have access to FSR4

at that point your better off going with the 9070. newer software support, more vram which really is handy for 1440p and isnt power hungry however, definitely upgrade your psu as well to 750w~ to give yourself more headroom for the future. and to not have any issues You can leave the cpu/mobo combo for now. that you can always do. but if you do want to also change that get yourself an am5 and 9600x. ram these days is dirt cheap even ddr5. get 16x2 6000mhz ram kits. they cost maybe 80 euros these days. and you will be set for quite a while.

i said the 9070 cause 1440p you definitely dont want 12gb anymore of the 5070 and that 5070 isnt actually a 5070 its just labelled as such. the 7900gre is great but more power hungry and doesnt get new software support which you may as well do buy. and the bump in rtx perf alone makes the 9070 well worth going for even if you only ever use it lightly. and the amount of games that ive seen either really getting close to the 12gb mark or even surpassing it is bigger than you may expect even at 1440p.

I agree with the above suggestion of the 9070 if you can get it for the same price or cheaper than the 5070. It increases its lead over the 5070 at 4k probably due to the extra VRAM.

The 450W power supply is not going to cut it anymore for ANY graphics card in this performance class. The 9070 by itself consumes up to 360W. Get at least a 600W power supply.

Also, interesting times we live in

the 9070 is roughly 40 euros more expensive but thats worth it for the extra vram, also i think you confuse the 9070 with the 9070 xt 😄 the 9070 takes only about 220-240~ but spikes will definitely trip any powersupply under 500w. especially a 450w and you can find decent 750w power supplies for around 100 in the netherlands. personally i would always rather buy seasonic which is around 115 for 750w gold
