OS: Win11 24H2

Specs: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Cattn/builds/#view=p3QD4D

(7800X3D/4070/32GB 6000Mhz DDR5)

Quest 2 using Wireless Steam Link

Issue:

Recently (around a month) I began to have issues in VR with EXTREME artifacting and low bitrate. I chalked it up to software, literally went through every solution I could think of (clearing drivers, data, etc) wouldn't resolve, so as a final solution I reset (while keeping files) and it resolved the issue.

Since then, the numerous issues have slowly begun to appear. Mainly apps randomly crashing (almost always in VR, VRChat or SteamVR will hang/crash) or hanging. In event viewer, most crashes were caused by ucrtbase.dll, and after research, I reinstalled MS redistributables which greatly reduced the crashes, but has not resolved it.

I've also seen an uptick in graphical errors in chromium based applications (artifacting, "tearing" (not display), etc) leading me to suspect the GPU. Despite this I have almost zero performance issues in high intensity games, and benchmarking my GPU didn't increase the frequency. Which leads me to think possibly memory.

Also relevant: I have not updated my bios. (Planned to, major storm) I will do this soon, but considering this hasn't been an issue before I'm not 100% convinced it's the issue, but who knows. Will reply after I've done that & confirmed if it has an effect

I'd appreciate any tips on how to troubleshoot or possibly narrow down the issue further. My current guess is memory related issue, but aside from removing memory and testing individually (id rather not, but will if required) I don't know how to confirm this.

Do you live in the USA and near a Microcenter? If you do, take it to Microcenter's Knowledge Bar. If not, take it to any computer repair shop near you. They can run more advanced diagnostics and have spare parts to swap your parts with to figure out the culprit. Also, maybe it is your CPU cooler. If you have PBO enhancement mode turned on in BIOS, that may be it.

I AM HUMAN AND I MAKE MISTAKES. FACT CHECK IMPORTANT INFO!
