Quadro RTX 3000 vBios Modding/Overclocking Question

Go to solution Solved by Maplez,

I found the Software, it is called MobilePascelTDPTweaker, sadly project has been abandoned and although RTX turing cards are supported their Quadro counterparts aren't

I have an RTX 3000 GPU and I would like to increase its power limit. I've done vBios modding to GCN 2.0, Fermi, Kepler, and Maxwell 2.0 but I have no experience with anything newer than that.
I remember seeing a post somewhere a year or two ago that mentioned vBios modding to mobile RTX 20 series GPUs with the software and stuff but I cannot seem to find it anymore.

Any help would be appreciated.

There are no tools that will allow you to bios mod any nvidia gpu past Maxwell (GTX9xx) cards. All you can do is shunt mod your card.

These days you can only flash VBIOS from a higher power limit card into yours. Though note that the donor card has to have the same device ID and power connector configuration as your current card.

Only way to get more power and actual oc'ing is hardware modding with a shunt mod. Either way the dinky cooler on a rtx3000 isn't going to be happy about that AT ALL.

If you need more gaming performance just sell it it has the nvidia pro gpu hike used price going on for it and it's easy especially for an oem only gpu that is somewhat rare but performs nicely and is without a pcie power plug.

I might look into shunt modding it, I assume desktop and mobile cards would have the same level of difficulty.

And it's my p170sm's stock cooler, it can handle 100 watts and this card is only pulling 75. It can even handle more if I manually set the fans to max (~110 watts)

Honestly I'd just sell it and get something well more known to proper shunt mod. This is a quadro it's super limited by design.

There really isn't anything available in this class. Officially my laptop doesn't support anything faster then a gtx 980m or 1060 (1070 presumably). After 10 series mxm cards changed in form factor, the only one that kept the standard was some Quadro RTX 3000s. X-Vision does sell the RTX 3050M (ti) and RX 6600 (xt) in sta dard mxm form factor bur the rx 6600 pulls too much power and none of these cards have been tested in any laptop.

This leaves me with the quadro RTX 3000 as the newest, all the other cards either already pull 100 watts maxing out my cooling or are slower then the rtx 3000.

are you saying the quadro rtx 3000 works with the p170sm? im looking to upgrade the gpu on mine but i dont know if something newer than a 1070 would work and dont want to risk spending a lot of money for something i cant use

The RTX 3000 does work, but you need to slightly bend the vram heatpipe.

It's the Standard MXM B Quadro RTX 3000.

I would advise against using it, just get a GTX 1070M since it's much cheaper and offers similar preformance (and no modding to the heatsink).
