Is there a bottleneck?

While I currently have a laptop, I'm trying to rebuild a desktop that I had some years ago. My build is looking like I will end up using my old motherboard, cpu, and psu with a GTX 770.

 

Between my old Core i5-750 and Asus P7P55D motherboard. Will there be a bottleneck with my GPU of choice?

I don't think the i5 750 has an unlocked multiplier.

That was the thing I was worried the most about. Until I can get funds together for a new cpu/mobo, I was hoping the performance hit wouldn't be big.

Well what PCI-E slots do you think that are found on those AM3+ mobos? And guess what GPU that people use for their 8350 builds.

PCI-E gen 2.0 is fine as long as it's a PCI-E x16, not x8. You won't notice any difference between the PCI-E 2.0 x16 and 3.0 x16 especially when you are only doing single GPU config. SLI or crossfire might have different stories, but I can't say much because I haven't done any of it and I'm not a big fan of multiple GPU config either.

 

As for the bottleneck issue, your CPU may be bottlenecking the 770 a little bit, but I think it is still okay for most games nowadays. You can always get better CPU and motherboard later anyway, so I say stick with it at least until Broadwell is released.

doesnt matter-you can run pcie1.0 (pcie 2.0 8x or pcie 3.0 4x) without any performance hit, everyones known this sicne it came out

I don't think the i5 750 has an unlocked multiplier. 

overclock by fsb, 166mhz fsb would be 3.2ghz, set ram to 1066 and itll run at 1333, piece of cake, its like overclocking a phenom but you start with a lower fsb and most phenoms are unlocked (hee hee)

edit-200fsb should be good for 4ghz, ofcourse you can lower the multi if you dont want to pump up the voltage as much, 200x18=3.6

chances are you wont bottleneck at 3.2ghz anyway, ive ran bf4 at 2ghz in a beach benchmark and it made 0 difference however id still reccomaned a 3ghz quad core 3.5ghz tricore as a minimum spec fwiw
