GPU/Screen static grey when turned on

Go to solution Solved by KidKid,

I'll start a new thread soon with more information.

Hello. I've been having this GPU or monitor problem (I'm not sure, but I think it's the GPU) the whole time I've had this computer. When the computer monitor is woken up (after the turn off screen timer), then I sometimes see this static moving grey screen with two black streaks. I believe I remember seeing this on my old monitor too, but the same computer, but it happened randomly) This only happens sometimes on a random schedule (sometimes one day after the other, or a break for a month!) Here is a video I got during the problem - https://photos.app.goo.gl/We9PQh728CwTsDcM7. I have ran FURMARK before, but not for longer than an hour, and no problems showed. The BIOS is up to date, and this problem has persisted through Windows factory resets and updates and GPU driver resets and all. I'm starting to think this is a hardware issue, rather than software/drivers, for three reasons -

1. It happened over driver updates and Windows updates and factory resets

2. I see a similar screen during HP hardware diagnostics GPU testing, though it didn't find any errors with my GPU (which you can see the video here - https://photos.app.goo.gl/R3wZ9KTQtoWffCEu9

3. Someone in the reviews of the same computer I have (HP Pavilion TP01-2165z stock, no upgrades) had a similar problem to me (picture link here- 1134519e-6ab2-55be-a126-335098af40b9 (800×600)

How I temporarily fix this problem, is to either unplug the monitor's power, or the HDMI cable, then plug it back in again. My PC specs are listed below. Thanks! 🙂

No upgrades at all? Not even RAM?

Try using OCCT to test VRAM specifically.

Nope! No upgrades. Okay, I'll run OCCT, though I don't technically have any VRAM; I use an integrated graphics processor from the 5600g APU.

How long should I run the test for? And what test should I run exactly? Thanks! 😃
