I have a windows server 2003 running a DNS, AD (active directory) and a file server.

  •    Trying to upload files to it from my windows 7 computer, something stops it from completing, i'm thinking a timeout of sorts.
  •    Pulling the files from the computer to the server, it has no issues.

Should i try another computer on the network that won't be used with this server but can connect to it?

Should i try a new server os that offers all these functionalities?

If needed, i will post configurations.

you might need to re-install windows 7. Which version of windows 7 is it? I'm assuming Professional.

When you say uploading are you referring to just Copying files to a Shared drive on the server.

What are you using for permissions, and does your user have the correct permissions for the particular share?

Yep, sounds like the 7 machine can't write to the share.

I would open the permissions, full access to everyone, make sure it works, then start restricting.

It is Windows 7 Ultimate.

All the permissions at this moment are set to everyone in both sharing and and security for the share.

Logging in as the administrator as well.

Done this. i will try what subtract said first, but trying with another computer so i don't have to quite re-install yet.

On another note, thank you guys for the quick replies!

After attempting what you guys have said, i tried from another computer on the network (domain and dns'ed to the server).

The upload worked for the first file, but then slowed down until it stopped. when that happened it had said i lost connection to the network when i know i am still connected.

That was with a un-modified copy of windows 7 professional.

Should i just try a re-install and see if that solves the issue?

And yes i mean copying.

This may seem like a silly question but are you joining the Windows 7 boxes to the domain? Also, try it with all of the firewalls turned off. Sometimes the firewalls conflict unless you make exceptions through Group Policy.

Yes, they are joined to the domain.

I've checked my firewall multiple times, and have had it off since i re installed windows in January.
