GTX 660, Radeon 7790, R9-270

My friend is buying a new graphics card, he does not want too spend to much. He does not play any real demanding games like Bf3/4 etc. 

 

Right now he's got a 500w psu and he's looking to get a Nvidia card since he is familiar with it.

 

Wich one would you recommend? Does not have to be high-end obv.

he could go for a GTX 660

I did not see the price, sorry. Get the highest end card that his budget allows for. Don't bother with the top end version of something if you can get a better core for the same price

Desktop -  i5 4670k, GTX 770, Maximums VI Hero, 2X Kingston Hyper X 3k in raid zero.

Laptop - Lenovo X230 Intel 535 480GB, 16GB Gskill memory, Classic Keyboard Mod, Triple USB 3.0 Express Card.

Well, imo, this budget screams for AMD. It just has better price/performance than nvidia in this price point. R9 270x is way more powerful than both 660 or 750ti and it costs ~130 pounds

Thank you, I believe he's going to buy the 660.

jus make sure he try the best to fit a non reference in his budget if not, than the reference would be fine
