I am looking to upgrade my current PC but i am unsure what graphics card to get. I currently have a 3070, which i would be comfortable keeping, it has been fine for everything i normally play at 1440p. However the monster hunter wilds benchmark did not look, or run well when i tried.. These are my current components:

- 7800x3d

- Corsair 32GB (2x16GB) CMK32GX5M2E6000C36 Vengeance CL36 6000MHz DDR5 RAM

- 3070

- gigabyte B650M DS3H mATX

- Gigabyte 850W Ultra Durable 80+ Gold Modular Power Supply (GP-UD850GM)

Should i get a 50 series card? i have not really kept up with the reviews, but they seem way over priced (also cant really get any of them anywhere), Maybe a 5070, or 5070ti?, what do you think would be a worthwhile upgrade? Should i just get a a 4080 super. I can get a 4070 super for a reasonable price, but would this be a good upgrade?

Let me know your thoughts.

monster hunter wild is probably the most unoptimzed game on the RE engine, one of the most unoptimized AAA games ever released. That game existing in the state it is is... maddening.

Right now the advice would be to wait because economic factors between scalpers and pumpkin tax make it impossible to buy nvidia GPUs at MSRP and the 4000 cards are all out of stock.

AMD cards on march 6th if they look interesting to you, otherwise sure a 5070 or 5070ti at and ONLY at msrp.

oh i didn't know amd were doing a release on march 6th. That is probably the way i would want to go then. Even if they were in stock, all of the 50 series, and 40 series cards don't seem to match the msrp that nvidia released (literally what is the point of the msrp) . So i will see, i either wait for the 5070 launch and try and get one then because i wouldn't be able to get one any other way, or wait and hope the new amd cards are good.

It is also annoying that monster hunter doesn't really work at the moment. I just finished kingdom come deliverance 2, and that game ran on all high at about 100fps at 1440p, with really consistent frame times so it felt even better. I remember being worried it wouldn't run well, as the recommended specs list a 4070, but it was great.

I just don't want to get swindled again, because i bought my 3070 way over priced, i didn't know any better at the time, gpu prices were soaring at the time.

No. Wait for 9070(xt) imo, and that's coming from a NVIDIA guy... 5000 series is just a complete failure (reliability, quality, pricing, low performance 'uplift')

Funny thing I got the benchmark demo running at over 60 fps at all times, but it's true, crank up some average day settings and it starts lagging... Thing is I'm kinda used to it, MHW was the same (some settings tanked framerate greatly)

unless you need cuda go amd. its sad to see that many people do not simply want to try amd even. Their cards really are good value. i always have owned both (but more nvidia) but amd is just arguably better for gaming. and with literally the entire 5000 lineup having issues with rops missing the 5090 the 5080 and now confirmed the 5070ti as well.. i doubt the 5070 is gonna be any different.
