Reset after upgrade.

Hi, I’ve just upgraded my motherboard, cpu and ram. When I reset windows can I keep my  software and files? Or is it better off to just do a complete reinstall? Thanks for any help.

what does a windows reset have to do with that?

As far as I understand it a lot of people re install windows after changing platforms.

Back in the day Windows was not as robust as it is now. Also Windows activation was not as friendly either. 

 

Reinstalling Windows upon a platform upgrade is considered a good practice.  Making sure the slate is clean. Depending on how old the Windows install is, it could be beneficial, Cleaning all the old drivers off and a clean registry. Unlike the days of Windows 98, Windows now days installs pretty quickly. So if anything it's just a minor inconvenience. If your smart you put your games on a separate drive from your Windows install and this way you can be back up and running pretty quick.
