I had a 3090 which died about 8 months ago. After some research that specific card had a batch of cards that shorted out after while but never had a recall.

Bought a used 3080ti, that just died on me last night. Same thing happened. Was playing a game (New Sniper Elite) Screen goes black but still running, no signal to monitors.

Restart computer but the computer refuses to restart. Have to hit the PSU switch to kill it. Will not turn on unless the GPU is removed. This is exactly what happened with the 3090.

I replaced my PSU with the same but new one. Thinking it could be my old motherboard? I don't want to put another GPU in it just to die again.

Am I missing something obvious? If not I am thinking of buying a whole new PC and selling the older parts with a disclaimer of what is happening.

Could be a short somewhere or just my bad luck.

Temps were all fine at idle(A) and during load (B).

Unless you bought your card from a friend I would assume all used 30 series cards were used to mine crypto so it could have been the GUPs time. I would personally try to buy a cheap Radeon 6600 and see if it dies in your PC. If not return it and upgrade to a different one. If is does die hopefully it’s with a return period and upgrade to a different system.
