I work at a MSP doing helpdesk support (both onsite and offsite) and have a chance to change laptops, just wondering if its worth the switch.

I currently have a Lenovo ThinkPad T15 Gen 2 with a Core i5-1145G7, 24GB of RAM, and a 500GB SSD.

The laptop I can switch to is a Dell Precision 7740 with a Core i9-9880H, 32GB of RAM, a Quadro RTX 4000 (8GB), and a 1TB SSD.

Is it worth switching? I know the precision is a little old but it seems much better specked to me.
I dont really care about size/weight. I don't do a lot of GPU intensive work but I do have a lot of monitors (5) and have a lot of programs / applications open at once.

Thoughts?

Is it free? Then sure, why not. What about the other machine is making you want to switch?

I doubt you'd actually notice any difference in day to day use. I'd be more worried about keyboard and display then I would be about performance.

If it's free and battery life is of no concern, then yes the Dell is an upgrade. You'll get double the cores, overall about 30% more multicore performance. Single thread you'll lose about 10%.

Yeah its free. Mostly because its free and it has a dedicated GPU is what makes me want to switch.

I hate the trackpad on my Lenovo too, sometimes it doesn't recognize inputs.

Sweet thanks. It is free, I actually have 4 available to me.

Dell precision is a great workstation laptop. If you will not do graphic extensive work and just multi tasking, then just take a laptop with 32GB RAM and i7 or Ryzen 7 processor. This should be enough.

I can only choose between those two options unfortunately. The precision is free so might as well take the extra RAM.

Yeah, I'd go for it then. I actually prefer the keyboard on the more professional Dells over the ThinkPads.
