The reference coolers are louder and run hotter. Only get it if you really want the glowing GTX logo, or if you plan on putting a waterblock on it in the future.

ref is mostly ref, i got a EVGA ref 780, it runs Watch Dogs on ultra without ever being laggy (high textures, rest max) with it being as badly optimized as it is.

Yes true, but you can't overclock the card as much. I think the stock cooler looks pretty cool though

im not a big over clocker but i do need to keep it cool

 i have my EVGA ref OC'd to the limit, heat is NO issue what so ever wont pass 50% on the fan speed before it becomes unstable

yes, not a super OC on this card tho sadly, bad luck.. only oc'd it to Clock +180Mhz and Memory 450...  i hope you have better luck with whatever card you pick in the end

im neither a good over clocker nor a expedient one so..... ill stick with a slight over clock

you can easily clock the card yourself, they tend to be so slightly clocked and with same hardware from what i know. with EVGA Precision you pull 2 sliders a little and you're set
