At the end of October 2024, I changed my ISP to T-Mobile because it was far superior to what I had at the time(750MBPS T-Mobile vs 6MBPS local company).  I got the TMO-G4SE 5G Gateway along with their mesh access point.  Prior to getting this internet, I was using an ASUS RT-AX82U.  Is there a way to get the mesh access point to pair to my router instead of the gateway?  I only ask because for some reason, my Plex server doesn't like being on the   T-Mobile wifi.  When I have my Plex server and all devices on the T-Mobile home wifi, it won't let me watch local videos unless I have remote access enabled.  I'm also a bit more biased to using the ASUS router itself because I went out and got the Gundam themed one.  I want it to be a functional network piece for as long as possible, and not just a display piece.

Probably not.

Mesh networks (at least in my experience) are all created by devices of the same brand / eco system.

I have a mesh using a suite of Amazon Eero devices and while I do have a Netgear PoE WAP that is on the same network to serve my garden, its not part of the Mesh and is just an AP albeit on a wired backhaul.

TBH, I would struggle to see the difference between roaming between my Eero's and the Netgear.

While there should be people here with more knowledge on this topic than me, I have always kept the ISP router as the main gateway and 'router' then disabled its Wifi capabilities then installed a 3rd party mesh / wifi system (Orbi, Eero, Deco.....)
