These started just recently and today my system shut off Twice (spike over 72C) i havent gotten much which these 3 temps are from Gigabyte but people i have asked the one thats "#3" is my Northbridge temp

the board is the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 rev 1.1 (bios is on F9 i heard alot of Stability issues w/ F10a) i've had it since early 2010 (i know rev 4.0 is out by now)

there isnt much in teh day i do to drive it this high i watch twitch/netflix and play various games (Minecraft[either maniacal Madness or SkyFactory], Watch_Dogs, Sims 3, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn) what caused that screenshot the spike to 69C was the modpack Maniacal Madness loading (the mod Gregtech was loading.)

this board has the stock CPU cooler and heatsinks. an di was looking at this to replace teh Stock NB cooler http://www.microcenter.com/product/362235/NBRIDGE_2_Northbridge_Chipset_Cooler

this is the system w/ it's side pannel off.

this was before the MSI Card was inserted ( w/ better view of the Chipset heatsinks)

any idea if this is actualy my NB/FSB Overheating? the bio has a CPU Warning setting and while OpenHardwareMonitor has only recorded a max 57C on the CPU the warning Buzzer went off after i took that screenshot of the temps.

Check on BIOS what the warning temps are set as. HWmonitor doesn't always show correct temps with AMD, so should worry over there. Still shutdown under 60C is too low. It should be around 80C when that happens.

E: And you shouldn't worry over mobo temps. There's little to nothing you can do about them. General case cooling helps.

They aren't getting any airflow because of the poor cable management. I would suggest going through and tidying up the cables and maybe installing fans with a higher air flow to get air to those components.

after cleaning out what i could (my god was under the heatsink for the CPU Caked with dirt) under full load and Minecraft loading it doesnt go past 60C, what i see the Most by Obstruction is the SB Heatsink, that is obstructed by poor position of the GPU. the board has a secone 16X PCI-E slot so later today i'll move it down there, i still need to get some zip ties to manage the cables. and new thermal paste (i can bet its dried up as i try to replace the fans and paste every year as over-preventive maintince.)

the case uses mostly 4pin Molex fans so i'm going to replace em w/ this: http://www.microcenter.com/product/352385/SickleFlow_120mm_Green_LED_Case_Fan though i still need to pickup a good one for the side pannel .

AMD temp sensors suck. Touch the heatsink while you're doing things, and if it's too hot to touch... Then it needs help.

Ay, they do. I managed my cool running socketed Duron, CPUZ said it was at water's boiling point. The heatsink was still chilled.

The UD3 rev 1.0-3.0 all have issues with warm VRMs. The heatsink isnt large enough and they changed that on the Rev 4.0 model.

The best way to cool it down would be to get a fan of some kind to blow air over the heatsink constantly. Something like a 50mm chipset fan would work pretty well.
