I currently have a 3070 with a ultra wide Samsung Odyssey monitor that can do 5k. I also am currently going to school to learn how to design video games, I graduate in June. I also like to stream every once in awhile. My full bundle consists off a i5 12600k, 32gb DDR5 ram, and a 3070. Would it be worthwhile to upgrade the 3070 to a 5070TI next month? Or should I try and find a used 40 series card that's comparable?

As others have said, we don't know anything for sure until independent reviews are out, but based on some of the test results Nvidia has provided, the RTX 5070 Ti looks like it's probably the most compelling offering in the (in my opinion, lack luster) 50-series line.

None of the 50-series cards are likely to be able to drive your 5K monitor at native resolution without DLSS. One benefit the 5070 Ti will have is access to Multi-Framegen of DLSS 4, which would let you theoretically get playable framerates at "5K". The 40-series would probably still struggle to get a comfortable framerate without some considerable quality downgrades, and your 3070 (as I'm sure you've observed) has a lot of artifacts when using DLSS to get playable "5k" framerates.

But you can probably ignore all of that because the 40-series inventory has been aggressively cleared out and the prices aren't worth it right now anyway. I'd say wait for 50-series reviews, and get ready to jump on a 5070 Ti deal quickly when it launches, assuming the reviews suggest it'll be enough of an upgrade to cover your needs.

Oh, and hopefully we'll have more details on the AMD 9070XT by then. Could be a contender, although AMD consistently fails to deliver...

When did Samsung do a 5k ultrawide? I thought the Odyssey line was just two 1440 panels slapped together on one monitor frame?

5070TI should be a very nice bump in the GPU department but wait for 3rd party benchmarks before buying. You also have AMD options coming out that should be around the performance of the 5070TI but again wait for some benchmarks before pulling the trigger. Other option you have is the used market for a 4080 or a 7900XTX.

Seeing that you waited this long to decide I can't see why you can't wait just a bit longer for reviews to come out before making a buying decision on a GPU.
