I installed a new 2TB P5 Plus SSD into a Sabrent PCIe expansion card. The computer boots into Windows but crashes after I log in, displaying a blue screen with the message "Stop code: Kernel Security Check Failure." When I remove the card, everything works fine. I was able to boot into safe mode, where I initialized the drive, and nothing appeared to be abnormal.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That message could be caused by a couple things.

The card or SSD could have a driver issue

It could be caused by malware, so I would run a malwerebytes scan on a free trial

If it only happens when the card is plugged in, the card could have physical damage which prevents it from running properly.

First, you can try using safemode to uninstall and reinstall drivers for both the drive and possibly the card (if it requires drivers).

If that doesn't work, and if you recently purchased the card I would try to return it and either get a replacement of the same model, or a different brand/model if possible. If you can't I would try the card with a different drive, or on a different motherboard, etc. or see if there is a different way to test the SSD to isolate which part has the problem (such as temporarily removing one of your drives from your PC to put the new drive in the second m.2 slot on your motherboard).

Just a quick check. There are two types of NVMe SSDs : PCIe and SATA.

Did you check to make sure that the card and your SSD support the same interface ? PCIe is really more common these days.
