SmartAccess Memory unsupported feature

Go to solution Solved by YoungBlade,

If your card is an older 30 series card that was made before March 2021, they actually didn't have rebar/SAM as a feature.

Nvidia later released a firmware update for this that needs to be applied to the card for it to support rebar - you can get this from the AIB's website. Nvidia explains the process here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/geforce-rtx-30-series-resizable-bar-support/

Do note that there is some risk in doing this - just like with flashing a BIOS for a motherboard, if you lose power or something goes wrong during the VBIOS flash, it can brick your card. So if your card doesn't have dual BIOS, then given that rebar usually isn't the significant for Nvidia cards, I don't know that it's really worth it.

is there any limitation for SAM in certain systems?

i am using 7950x + rtx 3080 with win 11 (GPT) and using Gigabyte x870 gaming x wifi6 with 4G + Re-size enabled in bios but when checking the resizable BAR is says "no" and in AMD software says under Smart technology it says AMD Smart Access Memory unsupported feature.

do i need even pay attention to this? does it even give any benefit?

In some games, yes, its quite an important feature. I don't quite know why it would say its not available but something is out of wack, that system is very much supported.

Hold on.. AMD software? You have a 3080. You're likely reading that for the iGPU which you might not even be using. Check Nvidia Control Panel or GPU-Z.
