I use a USB 3.0 enclosure case + 2.5" HDD. After copying and reading files, I used the Windows eject function (safely remove hardware). After completing this command, when I tried to disconnect the USB3.0 cable from the PC, my hand hit the enclosure case and it moved a little on the table. Does this shock cause friction between the reading heads and the magnetic platters?

My HDDs are: 2013 models WDC WD10JPVX-08JC3T5, APPLE HDD HTS541010A99E662 and 2020 model Seagate ST500LM030.
The enclosure cases are: Orico 25PW1 black and Kesu 2530.

No.

HDDs are relatively fragile, but they're also not made of tissue paper. There were several generations of HDDs in laptops, let alone MP3 players. They'll survive a little jostling no problem.

How many times are you going to ask this? Your hand hitting it WILL NOT harm the drive. Short of the drive falling on the floor, you are not going to have a problem with an ejected drive.

Does it matter?  Their position has no bearing on anything.

Like when you turn off your car, do you ask what position the pistons are in?   No, because it isn't something that has any bearing on anything.

Are you just curious, or do you need to know this for a reason?

Ahh....

It doesn't matter.   The head is off the platter, anyway.  It came to rest.

A small bump doesn't do anything .

Look up the G force a HDD can handle.

Does the G-force of 2.5" HDDs depend on the drive firmware? If the firmware has a problem or is changed, can this protection be lost while the HDD is in operation and turned off? hdds 2.5" aliexpress altered firmware

1) When the Windows "safely remove hardware" eject is invoked and the letter E: disappears from Windows, what type of command does Windows send to the 2.5" HDD and the HDD understands that it is time to park the heads?

2) Do the model, brand, chip of the USB3.0 enclosure case and Windows power settings have any relation to the parking of the heads of a 2.5" HDD after the Windows "safely remove hardware" eject command is completed and the letter E: disappears from the system?

3) In what year on 2.5" HDDs and in what version of Windows was parking the heads of 2.5" HDDs implemented after the Windows "safely remove hardware" eject command is completed and the letter E: disappears? even if the USB3.0 cable of the enclosure case remains connected to the PC/enclosure?

For 2.5 drives you don't need an "enclosure", adapter cable is enough... as for eject, it's recommended to do it, as for "head parking" which seems to be the question, most hdds do this automatically,  you can even hear the disc stop spinning after "eject", although it sometimes can take several minutes for that to occur.

on other hand since its automatic the moment you yank the cable, the hdd performs an "emergency stop" and parks the head automatically which in like 99.99999% is a very safe operation as the hdd is designed to do that safely.

as for "shock" obviously try to avoid that...

usb adapter(s) , so called "harddrives":

20241212_112302.thumb.jpg.5a91bf148e933012efefc012044bf632.jpg

an enclosure is generally only needed for 3.5" drives as they typically require additional power to function.

I still have doubts because I searched before on ChatGPT and got different answers without conclusion

I use a 2.5" laptop HDD + USB3.0 enclosure case. When the "safely remove hardware" ejection in Windows is finished, the letter E: disappears from the system the 2.5" HDD park the heads or not? ChatGPT was only showing that the power to the drive is cut off, which parks the heads. In my case, the USB cable remained connected to the enclosure and the PC after ejection by Windows.

So as far as I know, ejecting from windows is mainly for making sure there’s no data in queue to write. It will also kill any access to that drive, so that you don’t corrupt the file system. Nothing more, nothing less. HDD will then be in idle state, what will it do depend’s on the drive, some will park heads, and spin down, some will just park ( all depend’s on the drive as far as I know ).
It will not cut power over the USB, as it can’t do that…

So as far as I know, ejecting from windows is mainly for making sure there’s no data in queue to write. It will also kill any access to that drive, so that you don’t corrupt the file system. Nothing more, nothing less. HDD will then be in idle state, what will it do depend’s on the drive, some will park heads, and spin down, some will just park ( all depend’s on the drive as far as I know ).
It will not cut power over the USB, as it can’t do that…

My HDDs are: 2013 models WDC WD10JPVX-08JC3T5, APPLE HDD HTS541010A99E662 and 2020 model Seagate ST500LM030.
The enclosure cases are: Orico 25PW1 black and Kesu 2530.

That will not help me whatsoever, there’s no public doc that would state what each of them will do in idle state.

Do the model, brand, chip of the USB3.0 enclosure case and Windows power settings have any relation to the parking of the heads of a 2.5" HDD + enclosure usb3.0 after the Windows "safely remove hardware" eject command is completed and the letter E: disappears from the system without disconnect usb cable after eject in windows?

parking of the heads

When the head is parked is left up to the firmware

The rest of your post is a bit confusing and I can't quite tell what you're asking

When I eject safely remove hardware I think that Windows sends signals or commands to the HDD depending on the model of the enclosure case USB 3.0 and the chip and firmware that it uses all the signals and commands are not sent to the HDD so it does not park the heads if the enclosure sends all the signals and commands from Windows to the HDD does the heads park?

Am I right or wrong?
