That’s the anti vibration pad, it will exert pressure directly up, so on the case housing…

question is whether this sponge crushes and damages the HDD flat cable due to pressure

It’s probably just a spacer from 9.5mm to 7mm, doing secondary as anti vibration pad. As in spec it’s 9.5 - 7mm case.

HD Tune is good software for Full Surface Scan for HDDs 2.5" + enclosure case USB 3.0?

Hd tune is fine. It only supports read scan with the free version. And it doesn't always recognize usb drives, at least that's my experience. I mostly use victoria now, and it works a lot better for this.

HD TUNE will only show bad sectors, no access times.
HD TUNE is good to see if HDD is good or bad, can’t test the current surface state more gradually, to predict problems…

you would need Victoria or mhdd (for older platforms) to test it thoroughly, and then analyze the scan.

Cheap foam over the years can disintegrate, so when you open it in couple years, there will be just powdery mess left after it.  depends on the material, if it’s real eva, it will last.

it’s the future you possible problem, don’t see why I would bother, it’s sealed, till you open it.

For my 2.5" HDDs purchased on Aliexpress, does HDD Tune perform the full surface test function to find out if the HDD is good or bad? I used the Pro 5.60 version

Victoria didn't work for me but HD Tune managed to run the ErrorScan Full test (disable QuickScan) for many hours and found no errors.

HD Tune is bad, would it be the same as not performing any type of surface test?

autoparking on 2.5" HDDs after ejecting safely remove hardware in Windows was inserted into the firmware of 2.5" HDDs in which year? The first autoparking was activated only when cutting the power and disconnecting cables, but in my case it is inside a USB3.0 enclosure case and without disconnecting the USB cable after ejection

What is the first version of Windows that sends all the ATA commands that park the heads of the 2.5" HDD after ejecting safely remove hardware in Windows even without disconnecting the USB cable from the enclosure case and PC?

2.5" HDDs is media that present many failures, corrupt data and defect mechanical if not used and energized for 1 year?

SSD is superior in this situation?

What are the best media for long-term storage without power for large files (example 250gb)

For long term storage without power, HDDs actually do better than SSDs - assuming they're both kept stationary. Vibrations alone can kill HDDs, whereas you can store an SSD on top of a running washing machine during an earthquake and it's no different from keeping it in a cushioned box in a room on springs.

SSDs can do alright without power for days or weeks, but once you get into months and years, the data can start to fade. HDDs generally take years to have their data fade away, but having or not having power doesn't make any difference in that regard.

How critical is this data? If it's really important, you should store it in multiple places on multiple different types of media to give it the best chance of surviving.

It's exactly the opposite - SSDs experience bit rot when not powered, losing data after years without it, while HDDs take exponentially longer to fail. I've booted up 100MB HDDs from the 90s with the last written file being over 25 years ago and they haven't had any corruption - HDDs are far better for long erm storage.

SSDs require power. To keep it simple, if it isn't powered, the data will "fade".

Generally, I've found 3.5" drives to be more reliable than 2.5". Drives.  Perhaps that what you meant.

If you want to leave a drive sitting not powered. Your best bet is likely going to be HDDs.  I keep my externals in pairs in pelican cases. I have multiple sets of these cases, and I rotate my backups:

Why do SSDs have problems with long-term storage and 2.5" HDDs don't?

SSD's use electricty to store data not magnetic fields. Electrons loose charge faster than magnetic fields fade.

How many years can 2.5" and 3.5" HDDs retain data and not lose magnetization? HDDs that are not used constantly, only for archiving and accessed once or twice a year

I read that NOR flash memory is good for long-term data retention, why don't they use NOR flash in SSDs?

Nobody can answer that for you. There are too many variables. Temperature, humidity and outside magnetic fields all affect longevity of data retention. Anyone that gives you a number is just guessing. My guess based on the age of your drives, 10 years assuming that the drives don't die before then.

The storage temperature in my house varies from 33-36C to 57-67% humidity
I don't know if proximity to magnetic fields affects me, but in the top drawer there are two SATA DVD drives. I think they have magnets inside them. I keep my HDDs inside the box, inside a cabinet. Next to the wooden cabinet, there is a 29" CRT TV and it has magnets inside it.

Is there any SSD flash technology in development with retention similar to NOR flash?

How big is the impact and interference of the model, brand and chip of the USB3.0 enclosure case to transfer all Windows commands to the 2.5" HDD after the safe eject function of Windows is finished?

My Kesu 2530 and Orico 25PW1 enclosure cases USB3.0 use JMicron JMS578 or ASM235CM chips
Do these chips have full UASP support and transfer all Windows commands to the 2.5" HDD when safely ejecting from Windows and parking the heads after eject?

Read what I wrote. NO ONE CAN GIVE YOU AN ANSWER. All you can do is keep back ups, replace them every x amount of years and do periodical tests. Backups are not a "make it once and it last forever". They require replacement and upkeep. If it is important to you, you need to invest in it. Buy NEW drives. Replace them when they are old.

There are many technologies in development that promise long retention, but none that are available now or any time soon and none that will be affordable to you if you can't justify the cost of a new hard drive.
