I am getting ready to use my new gaming computer. I'm going to use an xbox comtroller to play xbox on line. Does it matter if I use a wired xbox controller from an original, 360, one, x, s, etc? The cord doesn't bother me and I don't want to need a charger or plug in something for controller to conect too.

Xbox 360, One, and Series controllers should all basically work the same on Windows other than the type of cable you use to connect them. They all use the Xinput API, which is already installed with Windows and supported in the vast majority of games that were released in the last 15-17 years. So that means that with most games, you should be able to plug in one of these controllers and have it Just Work in basically any modern game, including showing the correct button prompts.

The controller from the original Xbox is different and AFAIK will not work on Windows without third-party tweaks, so there's no reason to use it if you just want a simple plug and play experience.
