Hi friends.

Purchased used laptop over internet but it came with broken frame on 3 places, so I got scammed.

Model is Dell Precision Workstation.

Will this worsen over time when opening and closing lid?

Should I keep lid opened?

If in the future laptop screen needs to be repaired I supposed like this, I'd need a new frame 😕

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

Thanks for understanding.

No refund option? Ebay is good about that if it is ebay.

as for this some thin electrical tape on the pieces to reinforce it should be done. These precisions do often have those cracks the frames aren't super strong.

What kind of thin electrical tape?

We here have duct tape.

That is a cosmetic bezel, that also appears to be an older Dell laptop going off of the size of that bezel. Those cracks are very common and will not affect the performance of the laptop or worsen over time. It's solely a cosmetic trim piece.

If you purchased an older used Dell laptop, this is 100% expected so, no, I don't think you got scammed. If the laptop is 100% working those cracks fall under minor cosmetic damage and fit within the confines of a used product. If they bother you aesthetically simply putting some electrical tape as others have suggested or ordering a new bezel for less than $10 would remedy it.

Yes I can return but all are refurbished which means there is a chance that replacement one could have another issue.

I don't mind this but then again yes I do mind because it stares at front of me and makes my OCD unhappy.

All are purchased via private advertisements which means I don't know what do I get.

I mean seller promised he will replace with not damaged one, but last time I got replaced from another seller I got a laptop with other issue.

Good thing is that he replaced the battery with new one.

I will see tomorrow local store and purchase this tape.

But how will I cover it, since cracks are in the corners.

I would need to cut tape in shape of letter L?

What you mean "going off of the size bezel"? Known issue for this model?

Will others have same fate as well?

Meaning going off of the size of the bezel which I can see in your pictures I can tell it's an older model Dell laptop. Probably a 6th/7th or 8th Generation. This is a common issue with these bezels at this age, sometimes the plastic cracks. Again, it is not a major problem. It is purely aesthetic. And can be easily fixed/covered up, or just left alone.

Yeah but I have even older laptops and bezel did not crack.

This more looks to me like somene tries to open the screen and broke it.

Maybe I am wrong.

Yeah it's 8th gen.I don't need more powerful laptop, won't be gaming on it.

So if I would replace with the one in bettet condition there is still a chance to have same faith?

It's possible it was taken off, it's just something I see commonly on these models. Like I said you can get a new bezel for it for less than $10 online, not sure about pricing in your country but they're usually inexpensive. If you were to get another one that didn't have cracks from the person who sold you that one, I'm sure you'd be fine. If it hasn't cracked by now or you don't take it off it should stay whole.
