Problem: Despite modifying Memory DPM States and associated voltages, the GPU:

  • Cause: Likely due to AMD drivers enforcing strict idle power limits or BIOS locks.? What do you think?

Key Observations:

  • Idle: GPU Clock ~8-30 MHz, Memory Clock ~192 MHz, Power Consumption ~12W.

  • My aim [when idle]: GPU Clock ~8-30 MHz, Memory Clock ~1990 MHz, Power Consumption ~49W

Things i have done:

r/overclocking - Stabilize idle GPU and memory clocks - Help

Left all in default in the AMD Adrenaline (may overlap, so put it in default for now?)

r/overclocking - Stabilize idle GPU and memory clocks - Help

Also did this in the Power Plan Windows:
Set to High Performance Mode.

  • Adjusted Processor Power Management:

    • Minimum Processor State: 100%.

    • Maximum Processor State: 100%.

  • Turned off PCI Express Link State Power Management.

Lets start with simple question, why? and what for? What are you trying to achieve ? Why would you want high memory clocks while idle ?

Download a distributed computing program and let it run in the background, it will keep your clocks high all the time.

If you want a suggestion, BOINC is the most customizable one. Attach to Primegrid and select GFN16 as your subproject of choice.

Ohh that's a great work around, just one more questions is it ok to keep my pc like this, or will it short the lifespan?

Yeah, it'll be fine. As long as temps are okay, you can run at 100% 24/7 and there won't be a problem.

That's a good idea, yes.

It will shorten the lifespan, but most computers these days are gonna outlive their own usefulness

Hey man i forgot to tell that i got an AMD GPU does this still work? the GFN16 just because i already pdated and still no work why?

Sorry for the delay, are you still having issues or has it sorted itself out?

Either way, it surely works for AMD, yes. And it's never an issue on the project side, it simply does not run out of work. It's something that's not setup correctly on your end.

On your account, go your Computers and check the location on that machine

Then back to the preferences page, click Switch View, then make sure you've set up the preferences for the correct location

After that, go back to the boinc client and manually update the project so that it talks to the server and gets updated preferences.
