PC freezes when I load gpu

Go to solution Solved by Jacob-Jorelle,

I disassembled it and found out the gpu doesn't even work so I am going to return it and get a replacement. I reassembled it the pc and it worked fine without the GPU so I will hold off on playing games until I get the new GPU

When I turn on computer with gpu attached to pci riser cable it boots then freezes and gpu stops few seconds later but when i remove gpu the pc works fine. So do you think it is the gpu, or pci riser cable that is preventing it to work? My build is here

Plug the gpu directly into the motherboard and see if you have the same issue. Also, if your riser is certified for pcie 3.0 you may have to tell your motherboard to treat it as such.

I cant put the gpu because the case only allows the pci riser cable but earlier tests saw the gpu not working when i unplugged the pci riser cable and working when i plugged in pci riser cable so it might be that. maybe

Take the mobo out of the case and build on your carpet or a piece of cardboard (called a bench-build). You should now be able to plug the GPU directly into the PCIe slot.

Its a bit of a pain in the arse but you really need to rule out the riser cable as a possible point of failure.
