Was this a paper launch?

Odd that there is no stock anywhere for a CPU that no one allegedly wants.

Thoughts?

the 285k is not that good for the price. 9700x or 7900x is usually better in most scenarios.

its not bad though
its the same as raptor lake in gaming but uses over 50W less, which isnt nothing where power costs more then 20 cents a killowatt.
in production shit its often better

I swear people got the wrong conclusions about the chip because it didnt out perform the last gen in gaming, its suddenly bad.

I think the biggest lesson this year is do not underestimate the narrow focus of the gamer crowd. I didn't expect the reaction to Zen 5 launch (before X3D) as I thought it was, and is, a solid update on Zen 4. When we saw same again with Arrow Lake, I was like, again?

Well, yeah, but it's 200 dollars more than the 14900k, which performs similarly in productivity and is better for gaming. If the price drops and it comes to stock, it's not that bad and actually good for productivity use cases. But for now, I still wouldn't recommend it unless you really need it.

Im fine with my 12900K, but was simply looking.  Literally, day one, out of stock (new egg), same today.  Read reports of horrible sales, such as

Normall if stock sits on the shelves and doesn't move, liquidation follows suit (this is what I was looking for).

Amazon... Not seeing any outside prebuilt machines, which who knows if they actually have stock.

NewEgg Still nadda.

Ultra 7 and Ultra 5, seem to be stocked well.

So again, ultra9 285k, how many actually reached market, on such a high margin part why the scarcity?
