Hi folks,

I'm looking to build my next PC but haven't kept up to date on all the latest hardware and would like some advice on parts and any other additions you may think I need. I currently have a PC I built 5 years ago running:

AMD Ryzen 9 3900x

32gb Ram

ASUS ROG STRIX RTX2080 ti

ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E motherboard

AIO liquid cooling

I'm looking to move to DDR5 and just have a PC that will go another 5 years and run top end games happily, this current PC my mates having as his is even older. I'm going to wait till the 5000 series comes out for a GPU but the following link is what I have so far:

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/BVVjpK

So let me have your wisdom and knowledge on what I can change/improve on or if I'm good with what I've chosen.

Thanks

Expensive RAM, MB and M.2.

What's your thought process behind getting 7950x3D?

Hi podkall, I basically try and go as high end as I can within a reasonable budget to ensure I'm good for a few years without needing to buy upgrades etc. I just want a one and done purchase. But like I said I've not kept up with the scene and I'm basing my parts on advice on other posts and also whats compatible. The RAM for example was on the compatibility list for that motherboard, there was a cheaper one, but it was not in stock anywhere at the minute, and I'd have to go searching again to tell you what it was. So if you think I can get bang for my buck in another direction I'm all good and open to all criticism.

Rather than an X3D CPU consider a 9700X, 9900X or 9950X. You will still get very good gaming performance with better non-gaming performance at a better price point.

Consider a less expensive CPU cooler with similar performance. Peerless Assassin 120 SE or AK620.

Dominator Titanium modules are 57 mm tal, essentially incompatible with the NH-D15 and most other 2 tower coolers. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/sQfxFT/corsair-vengeance-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-cmk32gx5m2b6000z30 are less expensive and much more compatible.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Would you be against white cases? For some reason they cost like 3x less in UK

Still out of stock, I remember to check because this one is cheaper than Thermalright so it goes out of stock frequently

My CPU of choice would be the 7950x cause that's what would be ideal for my use cases but i committed to not upgrade my PC until 2030 unless someone gifts me stuff, things are too expensive for me rn

however if the ONLY thing ur doing is gaming i'd go X3D all day

(btw it's funny how intel are just not an option anymore lol, i do wish they will come back but for now, just don't even think about that even if the 14900k is cheap, it's cheap for a reason)
