Hey guys 🙂

my rig is not supported for W11 but there is a way to upgrade it but it comes with some risks from what i have heard ,

should I do it ?

and if yes , can I boot it from a usb or just to install it regularly when I'm mounting the iso file ?

Any particular reason why you want to move to Windows 11?

I'd stick to Win10, honestly.  UNless you feel the desire to move to 11, there really is no need yet.

I am on it, and it's fundamentally the same as 10.  Not missing anything.

Agreed.

I'd move to Win11 once Win10 goes EOL but until then, no real reason to switch.

2 out of my 3 PC's are on Windows 11 Pro now, waiting to move to it on my main system later on when I have to. (All 3 meet the Windows 11 requirements)

Win 11 really isn't a big deal, I really do like Windows 10, been running it since it came out.

Right now just stay on Windows 10. 11 is more bloated and it doesn't have any features worth upgrading for.

I'm the same thought like you guys , i do love windows 10 , but in other hand , should I be ready and not to wait until it'll be EOL ?

Nothing wrong with being ready for it, but generally if you don't need to upgrade, there's not much reason to.

You can also make a bootable installer with Rufus that'll debloat a good bit of Windows 11, in addition to bypassing the TPM and Microsoft account requirements.

That's my next question that comes up in my mind tbh haha , if I need to make a change in the registry in order to operate w11 in my rig , I wont face any problems when I make a usb bootable copy ?

What hardware do you have? Full specs?

I'd guess you can do the normal bypass system requirements and a inplace upgrade. Ive done this many times without issue.

shouldn't i use the safe way and what Microsoft published ?

Well Microsoft doesn't support your hardware with Windows 11, so the safe solution is to stick with win10 or get new hardware. But I have done a lot of upgrade with the system requirements bypass without issues.

Basically run this line.

reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup /f /v AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMorCPU /d 1 /t reg_dword

The Rufus method is fine on my two i7-6700 systems.

But there was a news report last week (that I can't find now) saying MS actually will change their policy and will officially allow W11 without TPM. But they kind of allow it already since MS themselves published the registry trick to install W11 at your own risk if course.

so my question is , if i use rufus to usb bootable w11 , what i need to do first , make a bootable and try to install or using the trick on the registry ?

The registry trick I think is for in-place upgrades. Fresh install always is better.

For fresh install you only need the Rufus created USB stick. When Rufus creates that, it gives you checkmarks to ignore TMP and also to not require an MS account.

And then 2 or 3 more saying they will not like 2 days ago.
