Evening gents,

Haven't posted here in a few years, but alas, I'm finally back in the market for a new build.

I'm pretty determined to keep the system within the ROG brand, as I've had great luck with their parts of all varieties for many years. And therefore, I'm between two motherboards for my build, as I am planning something fairly high end. I'm either getting a 9950X or a 9950X3D (when it releases), however, I'm between the Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Hero and the Asus ROG Crosshair X870E Hero.

The only things keeping me from settling on the X670E, as it is FAR cheaper and offers all the features I need, are the plentiful hardware issues associated with the board, many chronicled by GamersNexus, with issues from frying systems on EXPO settings, to issues with the inbuilt Intel ethernet controller, to SSDs disappearing and random BSODs. The board has been out for a few years now, and I really want to know if anyone has any firsthand experience with this board, or, knows if the myriad of issues have been remedied through BIOS updates.

The x870E is nice, but really, if I dont have to spend $690 on a board and get something that works from Asus for around $450, I'd be far happier.

Thanks all, and happy belated thanksgiving! 🙂

Like any real reason to stick with an rog? Their prime b650 is 150$ and just as hood for what ya wanna do.

Rog has always been overpriced and you could EASILY get similar class boards for half price and less from other vrands or hell even asus themselves. Rog is literally just marketing + a SLIGHTLY better product sometimes.

Often times these rog boards are WORSE because they use new tech that hasnt had a refinement run yet

The x870e rog has real expo issues as in its flat out unstable + lan drops out.

X670e still drops wifi AND  bluetooth (seems it just drops the card in windoes which leads to erratic behavior) and seems to have some other issues still.

So like avoid these 2.

pretty norml stuff for more limited run halo product hardware. Get something else or face problems.

Edit: from working in the it industry a lot and it store for couple years its always the fucking halo products that cause the most issues. First gen = consumer is the tester.
