Split on upgrade or ROG ally

Budget (including currency): 200usd for cpu 275 for ROG

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Elden ring satisfactory, maybe some photoshop

Other details: so I already have a build ( r5 5500, gtx 1660, 16gb of 3200mhz, 1.5tb nvme, stock cooler)

with the Black Friday deals I can get the 5700x3d for 200, which would give me a better gpu upgrade path. However I could instead get a ROG ally z1 off eBay for 275$. I’ve been saving up for a while (for the ally) but I saw the Black Friday deal and I am wondering if I should take advantage of it. Your thoughts? Is it a worthwhile upgrade for the price?

Which z1 is it?

 

Like first gen with first specs? Avoid sd card slot dies on all of em.

 

Second gen z1 normal and not extreme? Avoid its slow.

 

Also why upgarde your cpu? Totally competent here. A better gpu would do much more. 200 usd is normal price for a 5700x3d they've even been lower before. Dont forget you need a better cooler too a 35$ peerless assasin will more than do.

Your GPU won't be happy. Elden ring is not CPU cache dependent like pubg does. Spend that extra cache on GPU and CPU equally, consider the sale of used components into your budget.

I’m upgrading now bc I saw the deal, would upgrade gpu with bar mitzvah money coming soon-ish. The Rog ally that is 275 is first gen, I don’t care About the sd card

I don’t have the money rn to upgrade both, so I was going to do it one at a time. Idc about preformance rn, I just ant to make it so I can spend more of my bar mitzvah money.

I suggest 5700X, save the rest and get a really good GPU
