Looks like Beats is changing already: The new Solo2 headphones apparently offer much less muddy bass, and a much more balanced sound signature overall. On the contrary, the engadget editor says they are particularly uncomfortable

I used to own the SoloHDs, and these look like an improvement definitely, but I'll stick with my Sennheiser momentums for now :P

I wonder if this is Apple's Influence rubbing off already - or whether this was Planned all along...

Ew. Baby blue.

Also, £170. Something tells me that they might not actually be worth that much.

I got rid of mine:

I used to own the SoloHDs

Because they were Uncomfortable and fell apart and were generally shite,

I just think it's interesting that they have moved away from their sound signature slightly

I like to see that you haven't been an ass and have given reasoning :)

The build quality of them was plain awful:

I used to have the Soft padding (earcups) fall off, the headband padding came off, the plastic cups themselves used to get 'unhooked' and I swear i could hear the plastic rattling or clicking when there was Bassy Frequencies.

I moved to Sennheiser Momentum Over-Ears last year and they are fantastic, The build quality is amazing and the sound signature is fantastic - A year later and they are still perfect!

nope not the influence of apple. beats has improved their audio from their past lineups ..... which is kinda akin to winning a medal at the special olympics. even skullcandy and steel series has gotten better. the only one being left behind is poor old Razrrrrr... they'll forever be that special kid

Seriously, not enough people consider the build quality, especially of something that is intended to be portable.

My friend had a pair of Beats, already began failing after 6 months. I've had my AD700's for around 4 years now and the only problem is one of the wings are getting loose.

rubbers

Not the arm, but the physical pad. A rubber band might agitate the problem even more since it's loose around the rotating arm that connects to the support pad.

Although, it looks like it's in there pretty secure, so I have no idea why it feels loose and easy to move. It doesn't affect how it's worn or comfort though.

Oh... the wings on both my 500X and 700X were pretty floppy - were yours stiff in the beginning?

Yea, they don't move unless I put them on my head or move them with my hand (well one doesn't) the other is floppy now and shakes around when you move the headset, but is still on there securely.

How? I don't even understand.

I heard the newest high end Beats are actually decent, sound wise. I have not tried them.

Even if they are decent, they're still overprice. For $300+ I want my headphones to sound FUCKING GREAT.
