My pc has been acting up ever since I got back from summer vacation. I had no issues previous to my trip (13/6 - 15/8) but upon my return I was met with a plethora of problems surrounding my computer. These issues are only apparent while playing games and barely overlap from game to game.

The first issue I noticed was that, l specifically when playing Overwatch 2, my character will at seemingly random times move spasmically and activate random inputs. After this I will always be disconnected from the server and any other program on the pc seems to lose internet connection for a few seconds before everything reconnects. During this I am disconnected from any calls and spotify stops playing music.

The second issue is that while playinig Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Seige my frames per second will drop from 200-300 to 50-60 for up to 30 seconds. Furthermore, at seemingly random times (possibly the same issue as on overwatch??) my game will freeze completely and the fps counter will display 1 or 0 and my GPU latency will start rising in tiny increments. This issue is resolved as soon as I tab out of the game and back in again.

I have brought my PC to a local workshop and they found no issues. I have also brought my PC to a friends house and tried it there, no issues. Lastly I have tried to use my friends monitor and once again the issues were not fixed. I've arrived at the conclusion that the problem is most likely related to my GPU or its connection to my screen. I have tried using different cables, different DP/HDMI sockets, I have reinstalled all my drivers as well as completely reset my pc, I have also switched the places of my ram sticks, flushed my DNS, renewed my IP, rebooted my router.

I can't access my PC currently so I will do my best to provide my specs.

I play on two monitors, my pc is self-built and around 1.5 years old.

GPU: 4070 ti

CPU: 13700k

Motherboard: MSI Pro Z690-A

RAM: Kingston Fury 64GB (2x32GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL 16 Beast

So the PC works fine when its not at your house? Please be very clear about this as it could be a major hint to wahts wrong.

If PC works fine in the shop and at your friends house it might be something at your house. And not the PC itself...

How is the PC powered? does it use UPS? is the power in your house good or does it brown out?
Did you leave the PC on when you where away?
Can you see extra tasks in taskmanager when this is happening?
Do you have other computers you can try to see if the gaming one struggles if other computers can still 'internet' fine? etc.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!
I'm just helping YOU to help YOURSELF!
(The more info you give the easier it is for others to help you out!)

Not willing to capitulate to the ignorance of the masses!

I haven’t encountered a single issue in the shop or at my friends house but then again, I didn’t test it for very long.

I haven’t heard the term UPS before but I looked it up and I have no idea if my PC uses it or not. As far as I know the power in my house is good, no known issues. I didn’t leave my pc on while I was away.

I find the taskmanager a bit hard to navigate but I haven’t seen any discrepancies in the tasks being ran when the problems occur.

Sadly I don’t have any friends that are willing to lend me their PC to test out so I’m lost as to if the problem affects other computers.

Immediately?! That is interesting.  Everything you posted sounds like a GPU crashing, and it should take a bit of time to reload the drivers and start the gpu again, "immediately" sticks out as odd so I'd like to examine this more.  When you alt-tab, is it as soon as the game freezes and do you get an image of the Alt-Tab interface?  If so it's not a particularly bad crash, but the freezes you were describing earlier seem different, more complete.  Is this your feeling as well?  The earlier, harder freezes could be power delivery on GPU or in the PSU (or MB but not really).

If so, I would do a DDU run (display driver uninstaller) in Safe Mode as it tells you to and try gaming again.  You confident with your system's cooling?  Are you in a particularly hot location?

It usually takes a second or two until I’m able to tab out of the game but as soon as I’m able to it resolves the issue immediately. I usually spam alt-tab and swipe my mouse to my other monitor to tab out as fast as possible. When I do manage to tab out I usually see the alt-tab interface. I will try a DDU and get back to you. I’m quite confident in the cooling since the guys at the workshop looked over it and said it checked out. I live in Scandinavia so not very hot.

I did the DDU run but none of the issues were fixed, any other ideas?
