I recently completed a new build and wanted to put my ram in EXPO mode. I've read some stuff online that it can be unstable with certain AM5 msi motherboards, which I have. Does anyone know if it's worth trying? Is there any risk to my parts to enable the EXPO profile and turn it off if seems unstable? This is the mobo, CPU, and RAM I am using:

  • MSI MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI
  • AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
  • G.Skill Flare X5 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory

What do you think? Also, I'm not sure, but maybe this is no longer an issue to be concerned about?

There is no risk if its unstable.  Nothing to worry about

updating the motherboards BIOS can improve RAM stability and compatability.

You are very likely to get 6000Mhz CL30 to work on the 7800X3D 🙂

No Problemo.

The odds of it being unstable are extrordinarily low if you're on a moderately recent BIOS revision, I wouldn't worry about it.

No risk to the parts itself. There's technically risk to the Windows install, but even that is pretty low (having done a lot of memory overclocking and using some very unstable memory configs, I've only ever broken a Windows install once in the last 4 years). I wouldn't worry about it at all.
