Hi,

I haven't bothered keeping up-to-date with phones for some years now and it's kinda biting me now.

I need a new phone for work, the cheaper the better and was hoping for some suggestions.

The requirements:

Has to have at-least basic water resistance as I will be using it out doors to take pictures no matter the weather so the better the resistance the better.

The best camera possible for the price as I am photographing cars and need to be able to see damage.

USB-C for connector reliability. (Not bothered about fast-charge)

Most up-to-date version of android possible.

NO IPHONES (Personal Preference)

Ideally not Samsung. (Don't like their bloatware)

Additional information:

I currently use the Oppo A97 5G, the camera and the whole device has been great for the £200 spent however it's short coming is the lack of water resistance.

Honestly if this phone had water resistance it would be everything I need but alas here we are.

I live in the UK and I don't really want to spend more than £300

Thank you all and I appreciate your suggestions

country?

budget?

midrangers will usually have pitfalls in low light and camera stabilization even if the camera might be somewhat comparable to a flagship and afaik this also applies to flagship killers since those only seem to focus on the soc (for ppl that play games) and even if you arent taking video camera stabilization is still very useful for good photos

any flagship would work here as their cameras are all good even the older flagships say a galaxy s9 or something like that and some of these used flagships can be very cheap like that aformentioned s9, theyre all waterproof aswell so not a concern there

my personal pick is the xperia 1/5 mark ii/iii as they are good value and are usually dirt cheap due to being so obscure and their android is near stock atleast thats what ive heard so no bloatware issues like samsung just that you might have to tweak the cameras abit to get the best picture quality

if you want it new then expect to make major compromises at lower prices (<300$, the aformentioned camera stabilization and low light alongside outright picture quality) or expect to pay over double compared to used

Thanks for the reply and I will add this information to the initial post.

I live in the UK and looking ideally for below £300.

I have been using the Oppo A97 5G and the device is great the only reason I need something else is the water resistance as this has non and anytime it rains (rather often) the cameras fog up and I think if I continue to use it it's going to die and leave me stranded.

Thanks

yeah any flagship from the past 5 years would be an upgrade to that

for good value picks id look at those aformentioned xperia phones alongside xiaomi flagships since these depreciate like mad in value so you can find em dirt cheap used

prefferably the xperia if you want a stock bloat free android experience cause xiaomi is bound to have bloatware but on the plus side for the xiaomi theres a massive community around em so you can do custom roms and keep the phone on the latest android long after xiaomi drops support
