Hello, this might be a dumb question but how do I update from Win 11 23h2 to 24h2 version? Im asking this because I went into my windows update settings pannel, did all of them updates but im still on 23h2 and there's literally no other update to make. I remember on windows 10 there was the win 10 update tool which was like a manual update to the latest version but there's no such thing for win 11.

I've seen lots of good reviews on 24h2 gaming related, like fps boost, more stability etc. so how can I update to 24h2 while keeping everything I have on my C drive.

gaming related maybe, have you heared about the controvertial parts of the 24H2 update? Like Windows Recall being embedded into the File Explorer?

Sometimes resetting File Explorer's layout/appearance.

Feel free: To ask any question, no matter what question it is, I will try to answer. I know a lot about PCs but not everything.

current PC:

Ryzen 5 5600 |16GB DDR4 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1080 ti [further details on my profile]

PC configs I used before:

  1. Pentium G4500 | 4GB/8GB DDR4 2133Mhz | H110 | GTX 1050
  2. Ryzen 3 1200 3,5Ghz / OC:4Ghz | 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz / 16GB 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1050

Recall would be... "mandatory" for File Explorer, there's no script/registry edit/etc. to get rid of it,

Microsoft is already in the middle of "creating" a "button" that let's you "turn off" this "feature".

There are some known issues with 24h2 and Windows update detects it if there's something on your pc that would cause issues and bluescreens.

I haven't got the 24h2 probably because of the Easy Anti-Cheat.

Just wait for Microsoft to solve it, I don't have any rush to upgrade to 24h2.... 😄

Beyond potential issues as usual the rollout is staged because no server could keep up with the entire world trying to download the update at the same time, so people are going to gradually get it over a couple of months. You can force download with the installation assistant: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

3 options. I've done #2 and #3 on both personal rigs here, been fine.

Quote

In the registry go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windowsupdate (Create a new key Windowsupdate if it does not exist)

In Windowsupdate
-Create new string value with a name ProductVersion, set the value to Windows 11
-Create another string value with the name TargetReleaseVersionInfo, set the value to 24H2
-Create a DWORD with a name TargetReleaseVersion set the value to 1

Let WU check for updates again and you should have 24H2 available. Can remove the entries once done.

Whatever you do is at your own risk but this should answer your question. Did this day one, my systems are fine.

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro
