Should I upgrade?

Go to solution Solved by podkall,

I doubt your PC would be not enough.

It's got good stuff,

6 core CPU, 16GB of RAM, mid-range 20-series RTX GPU and M.2 SSD.

Don't overthink it, you have good PC, and your MB can hold a faster Ryzen AM4 CPU as long as it's BIOS supports it.

You have options to upgrade, but that doesn't mean you need to upgrade.

Keep your PC as it is, it's good.

Budget (including currency): 600 Euros

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1440p regular gaming + idk

Current PC:

Ryzen 5 3600

Aorus B450 Pro WiFi

Corsair vengance rgb pro 2x8gb 3200mgz

RTX 2070 Super MSI Ventus

M.2 512gb ssd

Gigabyte 700w 80+ Bronze PSU

Hello guys,

I bought this PC a few years ago but unfortunately I moved from Colombia to Germany and havent been able to bring it with me until now. I havent been really active in the PC community the last couple of years so I am not really sure whats out there right now and if what I have is outdated or if it can still go on a couple of years. My main concern is that I am going to start a Mechanical engineering degree soon and I am not sure if later on I am going to need a good PC for something. I am not going to be playing any really demanding games but I do have a 1440p 144hz monitor so it would be nice to take advantage of that. Thanks

Are you upset with the performance?

This will be entirely fine for university use. More than.

I'd wait until you're well into your course before you buy anything, often the computing power required for college work is not much.

2070 Super is more of a 1080p card at this point, but it really depends on the kind of games you play and how demanding you are. It is still fine with most games.

If you're determined to upgrade then, I'd look at a 7800 XT, 7900 GRE, 4070 or 4070 Super,.. whatever you can find a great deal on, together with a 5600, 5700X, 5700X3D or 5800X3D.

If you do something like the above, you'd be set for another 4-5 years, but you can definitely get by with what you have.
