Hey.

I'm keen on overclocking my gfx card to get a few extra fps and my cpu too - but one thing that worries me is, will it void my warranty? What if my gfx cards starts showing crazy artifacts or jitters, can I still RMA, or will my warranty be void? MSi Twin Froz AMD Radeon 280x we're talking about, and an intel i5 4670k.

Cheers

@Tazman192 For starter hello, you want to overclock your cpu in stages since you sound pretty new to overclocking.

If your gpu is displaying artifacts then change the setting slightly lower then it is. You'll want to actively look out for artifacts on your screen as you stress test it for stability.

Well RMA is about faulty on arrival or DOA, i dont know about the warranty but if its your own purpose to break it i dont think warranty and RMA will replace it. Overclock at your own risk, not too high, not too low, pitch perfect frequencies. Use MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision X, even get into BIOS. gpu is the easiest to oc

If I remember correctly, linus' video card overclocking guide is pretty bad. Kombuster? useless stress test, it only makes heat.

When you start getting artifacts, back down the overclock. It's not broken, those are just errors. MSI has a great warranty, their cards are made for overclocking. As long as you do not physically damage the card, your warranty is valid.

Never overclock more than ONE PART at a time. Oc your cpu, get it stable. set it back to stock and work on your RAM, same thing, get it stable and set back to stock while you work on your gpu core and memory separately. Then once you found what everything can do, you can start to combine overclocks.

Alright, thanks for the advice guys. I think guru3d had some good presets for the 280x using msi afterburner. I'm still undecisive whether I'm getting 280x or 770 gtx ><
