I essentially have blank paper and doing tons of sketches on how I want to plan out my build with water cooling loop, is this too much beyond nerdy or just the right amount nerdy?

No, planning is pretty much essential when setting out the loop. Seriously.

Nope it's a physical visual representation of your imagination which I think is as good thing.

Not nerdy at all and I would take offence to that when it comes to me doing my custom loop. "Never doubt yourself" Robbaz King of the swedz.

when I had some spare time one day I drew palns for a liquid cooled laptop. Problem being you had to use quick connect fittings with an external 120mm rad.

I do mental doodle's. Had an idea about counter rotating computer fans (which would increase airflow btw). Go for it man, nothing like the mad scientist look for a computer. Its only too much when your trying to source tritium for lines resembling motherboard leads in an acrylic motherboard tray.....just cuz.

That's called being smart. At least you have a physical idea of what you're doing instead of just a mental image to work with. Since water-cooling is risky and even if you're a veteran, I still think it's best to have a plan. With a new, minimal, budget build, planning the design's not that important. Air cooling is more complicated, but it's not going to kill your system if you orientate a fan the wrong way. With water-cooling, a tube with too much tension or whatever could end up frying your system.

I was in no way suggesting he not plan lol.

Just saying that when I start designing something I sit down and look at what I have, and imagine it before I put it to paper.
