Budget (including currency): $2,000 or less

Country: Estonia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Ultra settings gaming on 1920x1080, Medium settings gaming at 3440x1440

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Solid e-GPU support

It seems that I have settled at around $2,000 USD budget for a high end CPU and a RTX4070 build (1TB nvme, 32GB of RAM). And there are ton of options for this build but none of them make sense. Most pack a monitor with a resolution that the GPU can not really handle that well. And the ones that have a decent Full HD panel that the RTX4070 can actually fill with pixels with decent frequency don't have thunderbolt. And a thunderbolt controller isn't actually that expensive ($60). So, what am I missing here? Is there really no good budget option with 1920x1080 screen, RTX4070, 1TB of nvme and 32GB of RAM? And I know that Alienware and Razer do have the stuff I need but they literally cost $1,000 more than the equivalent Legion Pro for example with no Thunderbolt.

I really recommend against getting a laptop for use with a e-GPU right now, especially if you aren't budget constrained. Thunderbolt 5 is already out and will make this whole thing dramatically more usable.

If you have to have this right now, just build yourself a cheap PC and put your GPU into that. When you want to play, you can just stream from your PC to your laptop. If this is enough for you, you could also skip getting a dGPU in your laptop at all and just go for one of the new Ryzen HX AI (I believe this is what they are called) chips. They have enough power for playing light games.
