They are not designed to do so?

I would guess rendering on graphics cards is faster because all they are designed to do is render stuff?

hi

i was wondering why rendering takes so long on cpus of today as they can process so much stuff

thanks

a ferrari is fast, but this doesn't meant that it will take 3 seconds to go from barcelona to moscow on it

cpus are fast, but rendering involves a lot of tedious calculations

When you click Render As customize your template and select render with GPU if available then render the video.

(Vegas Pro 12)

CPU evolved over the years, videos too.

Not long ago we were making content on 360p and 480p, and even at those times rendering would take ages!

Now rendering, is a matter of minutes, sometimes hours, but much better than the old days. However we are using more complex formats, higher bitrates, larger resolution and editing at a different pace.

Enabling CUDA for example, and using the GPU will make this process much faster.
