Hi I moved from England to Australia four years ago and was wondering how come that technology in Australia is more expensive than the rest of the world dvd's, blu-ray, pc parts everything. So my question is dose anyone know why this is? thank you for replying. :Q

In some cases its fair, like GPU's for example if you factor in currency conversions and long distance shipping they're reasonably priced but other stuff is ridiculously priced for no other reason than knowing we have no choice but to pay it.

I recently purchased a game on Steam for myself and two friends, each copy cost me $75 USD but if i was American i would have only paid $60 USD, in fact it would have been cheaper for me to load my money onto an American friends steam account and have her gift the game back to us. There is just no justification for that, its a digital item.

Here is a Strix from a reputable Australian site

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_1692&products_id=29117

$549 AUD converts to $429.50 USD, factor in freight and it doesn't seem like that huge of a difference :)

Don't get me wrong i would love to see parity but i don't mind paying a bit of a premium as long as im not getting absolutely screwed for no reason whatsoever.

welcome to the Australia tax. In short there are so many products here that get the tax (not just tech) that makes it expensive. Some of it can be explained, some it is just plain greed.

*Cue 60% here. After the shipping is applied, that is.
