IPS

Don't buy VA as they have  bad viewing angles and colour shifts.

The Declaration of Independence, once the charter of democracy, begins by saying that certain things are self-evident. If we were to trace the history of the American mind from Thomas Jefferson to William James, we should find that fewer and fewer things were self-evident, until at last hardly anything is self-evident. (G. K. Chesterton - Aug. 14 1926 (The Illustrated London News))

For the record, these are both LCD's.

The MSI uses a VA panel and the Acer uses an IPS panel.

The general rule is stay away from cheap VA's and go IPS if given the option.

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro

ah my mistake, wrote it in flow. have made the edit.

i get your point, but just for clarification, would you mind elaborating on reasons to stay away from VA? i just wanna have a clear picture!!

I can't speak to the displays in question here, there isn't a whole lot of in depth reviewing when it comes basic displays like this. However, with cheap VA's, typically what you'll get is awful ghosting, black blur and black crush.

IPS has its weaknesses too, again at this price point.

Truthfully speaking nothing is all that great in this category, best bet is look at stuff in person. If you can't, just buy the IPS.

They're both cheap and nothing special.

21.5" and 1080p is gonna be a pain in photoshop. Wouldn't use less than 27"

Acer SA222Q may be IPS but you don't know how good of an IPS panel. Description says 100 Hz refresh rate, 21.5" panel, but nothing about color accuracy.

The VA one at least advertises color accuracy ....  95.9% sRGB colour gamut (8-bit, 16.7M colours), 300 nits brightness & high 4000:1 contrast ratio;

So the VA one from MSI - if you care about color accuracy - is probably a bit better.

I've had TN VA IPS nanoIPS and OLED, currently have VA nanoIPS and OLED hooked to one machine

VA has gotten pretty good but it's still not as good as IPS given both are good examples of each.  VA can get some color distortion when viewed off axis, if you were going for color accuracy I'd try for an IPS but if not a good VA will work.

Audio go Brrrrrr
