Ive been fed up with adobe at its practices of screwing the user over after a couple of years of using their programs so I wanna look into alternatives for the programs I'm using

For refference: I already left Premier for Davinci resolve and im looking to migrate from using after effects and photoshop and have the ability to learn new programs easily/relatively fast due to my f around and find out nature

Long story short i want some free/cheap photoshop and after effects alternatives that actually work and are worth it even tho at this point anything would be more stable than anything adobe

I edit my posts for so if you saw a typo.... no you didn't, you are just crazy

Photoshop Elements is still Adobe, but it's a one-time purchase.

Paint.NET and GiMP are the two not-Photoshop image editors I know of. (And GiMP's is a pain in the butt to use because its UI is terrible.)

Resolve can do some compositing but I don't think it's a replacement for After Effects.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

i am an adobe user for almost 6 years and i never found a better alternative for me

i know its frustrating but i tried resolve and i hated this software but i can't really recommend any other software

that's the problem in my opinion

nobody came out with something better than adobe for professionals who already use adobe

there is no competition in this market

i tried elements and it sucked

Krita is another open source alternative. There's also Affinity, if you want one-time paid software that has alternatives for several Adobe Suite products

Remember to either quote or @mention others, so they are notified of your reply

There was a post about alternatives recently I watched it only video format but its nice breakdown of alternatives.

Krita is free or Photopea which is web based but they are not quite heavy use imho.

My personal all time fave is Clip Studio paint, it is often on sale, one time payment for PC license and you can but do not need update/sub for future updates 3.0 is quite solid. It is mainly for drawing and comix with some painting on the side tho. You can try their demo freely afaik.

For more Photoshop/Ilustrator editing side i heard Affinity is quite good and they just anounced 6mo trial, it is one time purchase and i do hear good stuff about it. I have no personal xp with it tho.

Ofc there is decent chance than based on your use case you will not be able to leave PS just yet as some features for heavy users are not in other softwares :S they are getting there tho

I tried gimp and it wasnt too bad.

Yes shitty Ui to be fair i hate it as well and poorly designed but very usable and since i want it for pictures paint.net is a no go cause its mostly for art
Resolve i use as premier replacement and i really dont like node based programms like blackmagic fusion so id prefer a timeline and keyframe based for picture animation software and some visuals that cant be done in resolve

Color correction and compositing are gonna be the most difficult its gonna get to any "art" is gonna be basic podcast backgrounds as long as i can mask, composite, color correct and draw some shapes its  more than enough

try photopea  it have basics or Affinity as i mentioned they should have 6mo trial without card registration which should account for learning curve and good try out

again im biased with csp but not sure on compositing part it for sure allow you to draw (have a good line correction) offer color correction sliders or sampling from photo with 3.0, i do like masking and al;so ability to move selection from several layers at once aand ill stop with my bias now, they also offer trial and have extensive tutorials

Krita as it was mentioned is free opensource but i have the interface with passion and was not able to get used to it but might be worth a try as its free and also have plenty of tutorials around

I uh am not a fan of csp

photopea is not my cup of tea but i can work with if need be and ill look into krita

Overall ill either see what i can do with some of the stuff you mentioned or stick to gimp cause i wont use adobe for a long time it seems like

I've heard very good things about the affinity suite and I think it's worth a try.

That being said, affinity doesn't have a solution for every Adobe product.

Resolve is a good video editor alternative.

Darktable is an okay Lightroom alternative, but not as full featured.

i am sorry to tell you i will probably stick to fucking adobe for the next 6 years

The only programm id be somewhat willing to stick to, if nothing that can adequetly replace it comes up, is after effects but i really dont want to stay on premier and photoshop at this point cause they've costed me far too much time

I believe the Fusion page in Resolve can do plenty of things that After Effects can do. I haven't used it so I have no idea of it can do everything as I haven't personally used it.

But I know that how it works is very different because instead of working with layers you doin After Effects, you work with nodes.

affinity photo is a very good alternative for photoshop, it is a one time (affordable) purchase. the only thing missing is a photo grid but some things are even better than photoshop like their implementation of frequency separation.

it is best to purchase it on the site of affinity and not in an OS app store. then you can use it on Mac and windows.
