Hello everyone, I've been having an issue with my computer using too much ram and i am unable to see the processes using them on task manager. I have 32 Gb ram.
I have done some research and from what i read it sounds like i have a driver memory leak but i am not really sure.
I will attach screenshots of:

  1. Task manager (Processes sorted by ram usage)
  2. Poolmon /b command (pressed b to sort)
  3. RamMap

Just to rule out the most simple solution. If you run something on your GPU, that exceedes the GPUs memeory, it can borrow memory from the normal RAM. You'd see that listed in the taskmanager under Peformance -> GPU # -> Shared GPU memory

Otherwise I never had to debug something like this. But I'd try to figure out when it happens. If it is a memory leak, it should either happen continuously or every time you interact with a certain function.

And then use the windows performance recorder/analyizer to check if you could narrow which program/driver is responsible for it.

Page table looks huge, did you reboot recently/what's the uptime shown in task manager?

See if there's something flooding it

I haven't been doing any gaming or GPU intensive task recently. I'm unsure if that's what you meant. But i will follow your steps and check, Thank you very much.

I rebooted today but before that it was probably online for 2-3 days.
Usually after i reboot it's alright for some time before memory usage spikes up again. I will wait till that happens and check what's flooding the Page table

Yes it is.

It happens some time after a reboot. I will attach screenshots again.

i'm basically doing nothing, i just have browser & a phone virtualization software on. I'm unsure where the other memory is being used.

ok its not a standby memory leak (unlikely) but I'll be very honest for a moment... you have about any bloatware known to man installed on your system,  i bet if you add up all those running programs and services you're going to end up with "31 GB"..

my first most prioritized recommendation is uninstall Riot Client,  its a well known rootkit level anti cheat that's known to cause *many* issues...

Imho its impossible to diagnose a system with that kind of malware installed.

Edit: however, to be clear this seems normal, especially when looking at all the processes running.

So here's my system at idle (1)

IDLE(4858).thumb.png.f18014d410506184de6962842003f412.png

21% "doing nothing"

IDLE2(4859).thumb.png.81a90bfae80f4a77892c842bce455a1c.png

ok now "only browser" open (2)

20240713_194109.thumb.png.0139c12a6c5de301eb7eca2f5711c182.png

"42%"

So now if i would open my "phone virtualization software" (which i obviously don't have) we'd probably be at "90%" usage,  that's just how windows works,  which is why you need to be very mindful what kind of bloatware(s) you're installing...

(all manufacturers "control software", discord, edge, spotify, etc, etc... )

The direction tells you... the direction

Thank you so much for the clarification. For me i use a phone virtualization software which even after closing, RAM usage stays the same even though the process is ended.

I am trying to see what happens if i don't open it. So far my uptime is 14 hours & usage is very normal at the moment.

Could it be that the phone virtualization software keeps holding the RAM somehow even after i exit it?

Appreciate your help so much.

yeah it could be... that would be a classic memory leak, post a screenshot of tskmngr and the resource monitor when it's not running anymore... i mean something should be visible there.

Probably just cached/mapped/standby files, you can check and clear it with RAMmap.

How can i check and clear them?

Go to File Summary/Details tab.

To clear it click Empty and select Empty Priority 0 Standby List or Empty Standby List.

If it work and you want it automated, you can use ISLC, use at your own risk.
